So I was going to post the newest episode of my Oscar-nominated series “Conversations with a 2-Year-Old” but Xtranormal.com is having some slow server issues. Given the delay and the fact that I have a ton of actual work to deal with today, I thought I’d tide you over with the very first Xtranormal video that I made. Now that it’s like three months old, it’s practically a classic.

A bit of context: if you know Chad and/or me, we tend to drink a lot of Iced Tea. This goes back a long way. We have a convenience store near our office and we walk over there almost every day to get iced tea refills. Part of the fun is that Chad is notorious for singing to everyone. His songs of choice are usually soft-rock hits of the 70s, 80s, and 90s (see the classic “Why do I know these songs” post for the full scoop on that).

The “Jump” video is probably one of the most vivid memories of my childhood and VH was the coolest band alive when I was in grade four, circa 1984, which just happens to be the name of the album upon which one would find the song “Jump”. . .and don’t forget “Panama”, “Hot for Teacher”, “I’ll Wait”, “House of Pain”, and others. It’s a classic. Even the cover art rules.

Anyway, the reason I mention this is because MTV just went ape shit and dumped like 16,000 music videos on their site — and you can find most of the classics of MTV music video lore, I’m sure. This was literally the first search I did, so please join me over at the MTV website for nice ride down horrible music video memory lane!

And then there were three. . .

Richard Wright, the Pink Floyd keyboardist, died today. And that just sucks. Fortunately he died with the comfort that his music is beyond immortal and his standing in rock history is as solid as any musician alive.

Nick Mason, David Gilmour, and Roger Waters remain as the living members of Pink Floyd. Now it’s pretty certain that there will be no more reunion talk (see my previous post). . .

The time is gone. The song is over. Thought I’d something more to say.

I hate the fact that whenever David Gilmour (or anyone related to Pink Floyd) has an interview in a major publication, it’s always “Pink Floyd will not reunite” even though Gilmour has a new solo project and a new Fender signature “Black Strat” finally being released.

No shit. Thanks for the non-news that there will be no Floyd reunion. Gilmour has been saying that since 2005 and the one-off Live 8 gig. If another Live 8 event were to come around, they might do another one-off gig. But they turned down a guaranteed $250 million to reunite Gilmour, Waters, Mason, and Wright and tour Dark Side of the Moon. They clearly don’t need the cash and all of them are free to do solo work, team up with other rock gods, sail around the world, race cars, fly planes, or just stay at home and be grandparents.

Sorry. That’s my “Leave Pink Floyd Aloooone!” rant. There isn’t a bigger Pink Floyd fan on the planet than me, so I only do it because I care.
