holySmith! The Business Traveler is coming to you live from Seattle, that is, assuming you are reading this on Wednesday night around 7:30 p.m. Pacific time. Otherwise, this won’t really be live, will it.
Anyway, I am in the Marriott Waterfront hotel here on the Puget Sound (or at least that is what I think it is). I can see the water from my hotel room. There is this goofy white kid out on the sidewalk in front of the hotel, barefoot, swinging his nun-chucks. No idea.
This is holySmith!’s first visit to Seattle. I landed at Sea-Tac and took a cab downtown. Until you hit the downtown area, I thought it looked like a typical Midwest city like St. Louis or Detroit. Detroit was my first thought because of the general overcast, low cloud gloomy weather. The landscape is very Midwest-ish plus a few more evergreen trees. But when you get into downtown, it is very similar to San Fran in terms of the downtown area.
I like it. This seems like a city that would be fun to spend a day or two exploring, seeing the various sites, eating the seafood. I am waiting for room service at the moment, but I think I will head out and walk down the waterfront, maybe take a few pictures. Maybe I’ll run into a real-life grunge-rocker or something. Then it’s back to work, then to bed, then up early to do our presentation and see how that goes.
