Sabuddy Restaurant Tempe, AZ

Sabuddy is an Israeli food restaurant on University Drive just east of Hardy in Tempe. I have actually been going there for some time now (years, in fact), but i kind of wanted to rank high in Google for such searches as “Sabuddy Restaurant Tempe”, “Sabuddy Tempe”, and “Sabuddy Israeli Restaraunt” so I figured I would blog about it.

If you like hummus, this is the place. The hummus is probably the best you can get in town. The people who own it seem to be authentic Israelis, accents and all. The girls there are very cordial, helpful, and attentive. We had great service despite a full house for the lunch rush. They have a lot of authentic dishes that are mostly things I can’t remember how to spell. Suffice it to say that there are a lot of flat bread-based dishes. There isn’t anything weird on the menu that should deter any of you from at least trying it. It has a lot of similar dishes to Pita Jungle, another of my favorite spots.

On a scale of one to would I go back — Sabuddy in Tempe is a definite “I would go back”. It’s a great (healthier) alternative to your usual lunch and they can get you in and out a lot faster than most sandwich shops.

I love Subuddy. They have the best hummus & falafel and a Greek eggplant salad I can’t find anywhere else. It is one of my favorite resturants but I was so disappointed to find out they moved to 69th & Shea & closed the Tempe location. My husband is working in North Scottsdale today so he is getting take out from Subddy. It’s a good thing. I’ve been going through withdrawls.

There is another Subuddy near Scottsdale and Shea.. is this the same owner? I drive by every morning and am curious about the place. Do they have a website?

tried the Scottsdale store on April 26, 2008… excellent food and an eclectic wine list but terrible service… might be bad enough not to go back despite its high quality food

If this restaurant used to be in Tempe (on University or Broadway if I recall correctly) , I recall being treated rudely (they thought I was male – I am not). After eating my order of chicken shawarma, I developed intense food poisoning. The best thing this restaurant did was close.
